Red ("Black") Tea
'Black' tea is what the West calls a heavily oxidized tea, though in its place of origin its known as 'Red' or 'Crimson' tea (Hong cha) after the hue of the tea water. To confuse the situation more, Rooibos has been marketed as "Red" tea. This is understandable since 'Rooibos' (Red Bush) was created from a South African native green legume bush using a Qí'Men (Keemun) black/red tea style processing. It was created to mimic the flavor of Qí'Men because at that time, importing genuine tea was too costly.
